The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; 9 Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 Passed round will be silver flagons and goblets made of glass, 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 from a flowing spring called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 If you were to see it, you would find it to be a great kingdom with great bounty. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' 22
