And remember Our bondman Ayyub (Job); when he cried out* to his Lord, “The devil has struck me with hardship and pain.” (After seven years of patience.) 41 [So he was told], "Strike [the ground] with your foot; this is a [spring for] a cool bath and drink." 42 And We bestowed his household to him and one more similar to it – as a mercy from Us, and as a remembrance for the people of intellect. 43 and, 'Take in thy hand a bundle of rushes, and strike therewith, and do not fail in thy oath.' Surely We found him a steadfast man. How excellent a servant he was! He was a penitent. 44 AND CALL to mind Our servants Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, [all of them] endowed with inner strength and vision: 45 We gave them this pure distinction because of their continual remembrance of the Day of Judgment. 46 And they are with Us, verily, of the chosen and the best! 47 Remember [Our servants] Ishmael, Elisha, and Dhu'l-Kifl. Each of them was among the just. 48 This is an advice; and indeed for the pious is an excellent abode. 49 They will enter gardens of Eden with their gates open for them. 50 Reclining on pillows, in it they ask for fruits and drinks in plenty. 51 ۞ and with them maidens restraining their glances of equal age. 52 This is the promise being given to you, for the Day of Reckoning. 53 this is Our provision, unto which there is no end.' 54 This: and verily for the exorbitant there shall be an evil retreat: 55 Hell; which they shall enter; what an evil resting-place! 56 All of this; so let them taste it, boiling water and pus, 57 And other [punishments] of its type [in various] kinds. 58 Their leaders will be told, "This band will also be thrown headlong with you into hell." Their leaders will exclaim, "May condemnation fall upon them! Let them suffer the torment of fire". 59 (The followers of the misleaders will say): "Nay, you (too)! No welcome for you! It is you (misleaders) who brought this upon us (because you misled us in the world), so evil is this place to stay in!" 60 They will say: 'Our Lord, give those who brought this upon us double the punishment of the Fire' 61 And they will say: 'Why do we not see the men that we counted as being among the wicked in here? 62 Is it [because] we took them in ridicule, or has [our] vision turned away from them?" 63 Verily all this is true. This is how the inmates of the Fire will dispute among themselves. 64
