The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 Bestowed the Qur'an, 2 He created the human being 3 Taught him the mode of expression. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 and He has raised up the heaven and has set a balance 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 [He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets. 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 23 His are the high-sailed vessels in deep ocean like the mountains. 24 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 25
