The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and banana trees, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
