The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
