(One day) the king said (to his courtiers): "I saw seven fat cows in a dream being devoured by seven lean ones, and seven ears of corn that were green and seven others that were seared. O courtiers, tell me the significance of my dream, if you know how to interpret them." 43 They answered: " [This is one of] the most involved and confusing of dreams, and we have no deep knowledge of the real meaning of dreams." 44 Then the man who was released (one of the two who were in prison), now at length remembered and said: "I will tell you its interpretation, so send me forth." 45 Then he went to Joseph and said to him: "Joseph, O truthfulness incarnate, tell the true meaning of the dream in which seven fat cows are devoured by seven lean ones; and there are seven green ears of corn and seven others dry and withered so that I may return to the people and they may learn." 46 [(Yusuf (Joseph)] said: "For seven consecutive years, you shall sow as usual and that (the harvest) which you reap you shall leave in ears, (all) - except a little of it which you may eat. 47 Then thereafter will come seven hard years which will devour that which ye have laid up beforehand for them except a little which ye shall preserve. 48 Then there will come after that a year in which people shall have rain and in which they shall press (grapes). 49
