The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
