(Recount to them about the time) when Your Lord called Moses: "Go to the wrong-doing people, 10 and ask them, "Why do you not fear God?" 11 He replied, "Lord, I am afraid that they will call me a liar. 12 And I shall be embarrassed, and my tongue will not speak plainly, therefor send for Aaron (to help me). 13 And they have a crime against me, therefore I fear that they may slay me. 14 God said, "Indeed not; go both of you with Our signs, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]. 15 "So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds; 16 let the Children of Israel go with us!'" 17 Pharaoh said to Moses, "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you spent several years of your life with us. 18 And yet thou didst commit that [heinous] deed of thine, and [hast thus shown that] thou art one of the ingrate!" 19 Moses said, "I did do it and I made a mistake. 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 Is this then the blessing with which you reproach me, that you have the Children of Israel for worshipers' 22 Pharaoh said: And what is the Lord of the Worlds? 23 [Moses] answered: "[He is] the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them: if you would but [allow yourselves to] be convinced!" 24 'Do you not hear' said he (Pharaoh) to those around him. 25 Moses went on, "He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 (The Pharaoh) said (to his nobles): "Your apostle who has been sent to you, is certainly mad." 27 He said: The Lord of the east and the west and what is between them, if you understand. 28 (Pharaoh) said: If thou choosest a god other than me, I assuredly shall place thee among the prisoners. 29 He said, 'What, even though I brought thee something so manifest?' 30 (Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!" 31 Then he flung down his staff and it became a serpent manifest, 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it looked white to the beholders. 33
