The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 facing one another. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and extended shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
