The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he looked, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
