The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 on a Great Day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 a written record, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On thrones, watching. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
