The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by yonder city 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 And by the begetter and that which he begat, 3 We have certainly created man into hardship. 4 Does he think that none has power over him! 5 He says (boastfully): "I have wasted wealth in abundance!" 6 Does he, then, think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 and shown him the two highways [of good and evil]? 10 Yet he has not scaled the height. 11 Would that you knew what Aqaba is! 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 Or to feed in times of famine 14 to an orphan near of kin 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion. 17 These are the fellows of the righthand. 18 But those who disbelieve in Our verses, they are the Companions of the Left, 19 Upon them shall be a Fire that will hem them in. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
