The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 What is your opinion regarding him who forbids 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
