The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And shade extended 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
