The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
