Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
