Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said, "In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise." 74 He said, "Do you see these - the idols whom you worship?" 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 "And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement." 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 "Nor a caring friend." 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
