۞ Gather together those who did wrong and their comrades and that which they were wont to worship 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 How is it that you are not helping one another? 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Certainly, that is how We deal with Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allah, etc.). 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 on couches facing each other. 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
