Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I CALL THIS earth to witness -- 1 in which you are now living 2 And the begetter and whom he begot. 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Deemest he that none will overpower him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Does he think that none has observed him? 7 Did We not give him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and a pair of lips? 9 And showed him two highways (of good and evil)? 10 But he would not attempt the uphill road, 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 Or to feed in times of famine 14 of an orphaned relative 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 and, then besides this, he be one of those who believed, and enjoined upon one another steadfastness and enjoined upon one another compassion. 17 Such are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand. 19 [with] fire closing in upon them. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
