We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay 26 And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 and when I have formed him fully and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down before him in prostration! 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 The Lord said: "Then get out of here; you are rejected, 34 and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." 35 He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised. 36 (Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee 37 Till the Day of appointed time. 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 40 Said Allah, “This path* leads straight towards Me.” (* The path of the chosen bondmen.) 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated." 44
