And Noah verily prayed unto Us, and gracious was the Hearer of his prayer 75 And We rescued him and his household from the great calamity. 76 And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). 77 And left for him among the later folk (the salutation): 78 Peace be on Nuh among the worlds. 79 Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 80 He is indeed one of Our high ranking, firmly believing bondmen. 81 We drowned all the others (besides Noah and his people). 82 ۞ Verily among those who followed his Way was Abraham. 83 When he came to his Lord with a pure heart, 84 and when he said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship? 85 Do you want to worship false idols as your lords besides God? 86 What do you think of the Lord of the whole Universe?” 87 Then he cast a glance at the stars, 88 And said, "Indeed, I am [about to be] ill." 89 But they turned their backs on him and went away. 90 Then turned he to their gods and said: Will ye not eat? 91 "What is the matter with you that ye speak not (intelligently)?" 92 Then he turned upon them, striking them with his right hand, 93 His people came rushing towards him, 94 He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve, 95 Whereas Allah hath created you and that which ye make? 96 They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire." 97 But whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We [frustrated their designs, and thus] brought them low? 98 And [Abraham] said: "Verily, I shall [leave this land and] go wherever my Sustainer will guide me!" 99 (And he prayed:) "O Lord, grant me a righteous son." 100 We gave him the good news that he would have a patient, forbearing son. 101 And when (his son) was old enough to walk with him, (Abraham) said: O my dear son, I have seen in a dream that I must sacrifice thee. So look, what thinkest thou? He said: O my father! Do that which thou art commanded. Allah willing, thou shalt find me of the steadfast. 102 When they had surrendered, and he flung him upon his brow, 103 And We called out to him: "O Abraham! 104 You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. 105 Indeed, this was the clear trial. 106 Then We ransomed him with a tremendous victim. 107 And We perpetuated (praise) to him among the later generations. 108 'Peace be upon Abraham!' 109 Thus do We reward the doers of good. 110 Surely he was one of Our believing servants. 111 We gave Abraham the good news of Isaac, a prophet and a righteous man, 112 And We blessed him and Is-haq; and of their offspring are some well-doers and some who wrong themselves manifestly. 113
