The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
