The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
