Whoso blinds himself to the Remembrance of the All-merciful, to him We assign a Satan for comrade; 36 Satan will prevent them from the right path while they think that they have the right guidance. 37 And when he comes before Us, he shall say: 'Would that there had been between me and you, the distance of the two Easts' Evil is the companion. 38 And since you were unjust, it will not profit you this day that you are sharers in the chastisement. 39 Canst thou then make the deaf to hear, or give direction to the blind or to such as (wander) in manifest error? 40 Whether We take thee away, We shall take vengeance upon them, 41 or We show you a part of that which We have promised them, for indeed We have power over them. 42 So hold thou fast unto that which has been revealed unto thee; surely thou art upon a straight path. 43 and, verily, this [revelation] shall indeed become [a source of] eminence for thee and thy people: but in time you all will be called to account [for what you have done with it]. 44 And ask them – did any of the Noble Messengers We sent before you, appoint any other Gods except the Most Gracious, whom they used to worship? 45
