a good many of olden times, 39 And a large group from the latter. 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 In hot wind and boiling water, 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 Neither cool nor pleasant. 44 Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury, 45 And they have been persisting in the heinous offence. 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 And also our forefathers? 48 Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 you will indeed have to taste of the tree of deadly fruit, 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 "So you will drink (that) like thirsty camels!" 55 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense. 56 It is He who created you, then why do you not affirm the truth? 57 Have you ever considered that [seed] which you emit? 58 Is it you who create it - or are We the source of its creation? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 From replacing you with others or raising you in a way you do not know. 61 You have known the first growth; so why will you not remember? 62 Just ponder over what you sow: 63 Is it you who cultivate it, or is it We Who develop it? 64 If We will, We would make it broken stubble and you would remain wondering, 65 crying, "We have been left to suffer loss. 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower? 72 We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness. 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74
