The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great news - 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven will be opened it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
