The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and gently take it away; 2 And by those who float in space, 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment. 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 The disbelievers say, "Will we really return to our former state?" 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 then he mustered 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
