The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
