The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
Almighty God's Truth.
