The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
