۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 Recall, when he said to his father and his people: "What are these images to which you are devoutly clinging?" 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error." 54 They exclaimed, "Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?" 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 And by Allah I shall surely devise a plot against your idols after ye turned away backward. 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 They asked (on return): "Who has done this to our gods? He is surely a mischief-monger." 59 They said: "We heard a young man talking (against) them who is called Ibrahim (Abraham)." 60 They said: 'Then bring him here so that the people may see, so that they may bear witness' 61 [And when he came.] they asked: "Hast thou done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." 63 So they turned to themselves and said: "Verily, you are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)." 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 He said, “What! You worship, instead of Allah, one that neither benefits you nor harms you?” 66 Shame on you and on whatever you worship instead of God. Can you not understand?" 67 They said, "Burn him to ashes if you want to help your gods". 68 We said: O fire! be thou cool and peace unto Ibrahim. 69 Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most! 70 for We saved him and Lot, [his brother's son, by guiding them] to the land which We have blessed for all times to come. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac, and Jacob as an additional gift, and made them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders who guide by Our command, and We sent them the divine revelation to do good deeds and to keep the prayer established and to give charity; and they used to worship Us. 73 And We gave Lut the kingdom and knowledge, and We rescued him from the township that committed vile deeds; indeed those evil people were disobedient. 74 We admitted him to Our mercy; he was a righteous man. 75
