The unbelievers say: “We shall never believe in this Qur'an, nor in any Scripture before it.” If you could only see the wrong-doers arrayed before their Lord, each bandying charges against the other. Those who were suppressed will say to those who waxed arrogant: “Had it not been for you, we would have been believers.” 31 [And] those who were wont to glory in their arrogance will say unto those who had been weak: "Why - did we keep you [forcibly] from following the right path after it had become obvious to you? Nay, it was but you [yourselves] who were guilty!" 32 Those who were subdued will say to those who were conceited, “Rather it was your deceit during night and day, for you commanded us to deny Allah and to set up equals to Him”; and inwardly they began regretting when they saw the punishment; and We placed shackles around the necks of the disbelievers; what recompense will they get except what they used to do? 33 We never sent a warner to a village except that those (who lived) in luxury said: 'We disbelieve in the Message you have been sent with' 34 and they would add, "Richer [than you] are we in wealth and in children, and [so] we are not going to be made to suffer!" 35 Say to them, "My Lord increases the provision for whoever He pleases and decreases it for whoever He pleases; but most people do not know it." 36
