And We created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between them in vain. That is the opinion of those who disbelieve. And woe unto those who disbelieve, from the Fire! 27 Or shall We make those who believe and do righteous deeds as the workers of corruption in the earth, or shall We make the godfearing as the transgressors? 28 This is a blessed Book which We sent down to you [Muhammad], for people to ponder over its messages, and for those with understanding to take heed. 29 And We vouchsafed unto Da'ud Sulaiman. How excellent a bondman! verily he was oft-returning. 30 When they brought fleet-footed chargers in the evening to show him, 31 He said: "The love of horses is worthy of desire to me for the remembrance of my Lord;" and when they were out of sight, (he said): 32 [He said], "Return them to me," and set about striking [their] legs and necks. 33 Indeed, We tried Solomon and placed a body (of a child) upon his throne, then he repented. 34 He said: My Lord! do Thou forgive me and grant me a kingdom which is not fit for (being inherited by) anyone after me; 35 So We subjected the wind to him, so that it ran softly by his command wherever he wished; 36 and the satans, every builder and diver 37 As also others bound together in fetters. 38 (Saying): This is Our gift, so bestow thou, or withhold, without reckoning. 39 And lo! he hath favour with Us, and a happy journey's end. 40
