Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Thinketh man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We are able to shape again his fingers. 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 So, when the sight shall be dazed, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 Aye! man against himself shall be an enlightenment. 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 By no means! Verily ye love the Herein. 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 Looking to their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 And it is cried. who can charm? 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 On that Day you will be driven to your Lord. 30
