The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
