He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him you attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
