The Comet (Al-Taareq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 and so am I: 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
