Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
