Hast thou received the story of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came in to him, and said, "Salam, (peace be upon you)!" He answered; "Salam, (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me," 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 He then presented it before them and said, “Do you not eat?” 27 Then he became afraid of them. They said: “Fear not,” and announced to him the good news of (the birth of) a boy endowed with knowledge. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 They said, "This is true but your Lord has said, (that you will have a son); He is All-wise and All-knowing". 30 ۞ He said: what then is your errand! O ye sent ones! 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 They are transgressors in the presence of your Lord". 34 So We brought the believers out of that they were in. 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But he turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman." 39 Then We laid hold of him and his hosts and flung them into the sea, and he was reproachable. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It left not aught whereon it came but it made it as matter decayed. 42 And in (the tribe of) Thamud (there is a portent) when it was told them: Take your ease awhile. 43 Then they disdained the command of their Lord; wherefore the bolt laid hold of them even while they looked on. 44 and they were not able to stand upright, and were not helped. 45 And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient. 46
