The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER this unfolding [of God's message,] as it comes down from on high! 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 He was taught by one Mighty in Power, 5 Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it! 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance. 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 All that is in the life to come and all that is in this life belongs only to God. 25
