Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 Tell them that the water is to be apportioned between them (and her); and every turn of drinking will be fixed (for each)." 28 Then they called their comrade, and he took in hand, and hamstrung her. 29 and how severe was the suffering which I inflicted when My warnings were disregarded! 30 Lo! We sent upon them one Shout, and they became as the dry twigs (rejected by) the builder of a cattle-fold. 31 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 32 The people of Lout (Lot) belied the warnings. 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 As a reward from Us; this is how We reward one who gives thanks. 35 Lot warned them of Our punishment, but they disputed the warnings -- 36 And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 39 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 40

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
