The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
