The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 unto a mighty day 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
