And this (Qur'an) is a revelation from the Lord of all the worlds, 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 in the clear Arabic tongue. 195 And verily it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 they will not believe in it till they behold the grievous suffering 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 and they will say, 'Shall we be respited?' 203 Would they then wish for Our Torment to be hastened on? 204 Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 Of what avail shall their enjoyment be to them? 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 for a reminder; and never did We wrong. 209 And this Qur’an was not brought down by the devils. 210 for, neither does it suit their ends, nor is it in their power [to impart it to man]: 211 Indeed they have been banished from the place of hearing. 212 So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment. 213 And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, 214 and extend kindness and affection to those of the believers who follow you. 215 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' 216 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- 217 who sees you when you stand 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Shall I declare unto you upon whom the satans descend! 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 Who give ear, and most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Have you not seen how they wander in every valley, 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 The righteously striving believers among them who remember God very often and use their talent to seek help after they have been wronged are the exceptional. The unjust will soon know how terrible their end will be. 227
