Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HA MIM. 1 By the Book that makes things clear,- 2 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 3 Truly, it is inscribed in the Original Book, in Our keeping; it is sublime and full of wisdom. 4 Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the ancients, 6 And never came there a Prophet to them but they used to mock at him. 7 and so, [in the end,] We destroyed them [even though they were] of greater might than these: and the [very] image of those people of old became a thing of the past. 8 (Muhammad), if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will certainly say, "The Majestic and All-knowing God has created them". 9 He Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright; 10 That sends down (from time to time) rain from the sky in due measure;- and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead; even so will ye be raised (from the dead);- 11 And Who has created all the pairs and has appointed for you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 That you may firmly sit on their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you are firmly seated thereon, and say: Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 Yet they have made some of His servants a part of Him. Indeed man is most evidently thankless. 15
