Surely We have created man, and We know the promptings of his heart, and We are nearer to him than even his jugular vein. 16 Moreover, there are two scribes, one each sitting on the right and the left, recording everything. 17 Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record]. 18 And the intoxication of death will bring the truth; that is what you were trying to avoid. 19 And the trumpet blast will sound: It would be the Day of Doom. 20 Each person will arrive attended by an [angel] to drive him on and another to bear witness. 21 [It will be said], "You were certainly in unmindfulness of this, and We have removed from you your cover, so your sight, this Day, is sharp." 22 His companion will say: "Here is (the record) I have ready with me." 23 The command was given: “Cast into Hell every hardened, stubborn unbeliever, 24 "Who forbade what was good, transgressed all bounds, cast doubts and suspicions; 25 "Who set up another ilah (god) with Allah, then (both of you) cast him in the severe torment." 26 ۞ Man's other self' will say: "O our Sustainer! It was not I that led his conscious mind into evil [nay,] but it had gone far astray [of its own accord]! 27 [Allah] will say, "Do not dispute before Me, while I had already presented to you the warning. 28 The judgment passed by Me shall not be altered; but never do I do the least wrong unto My creatures!" 29
