A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). 39 And a large group from the latter. 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 In hot wind and boiling water, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor pleasant. 44 Lo! heretofore they were effete with luxury 45 and persisted in the Great Sin, 46 And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected? 47 Will our ancient forefathers be resurrected too? 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day. 50 and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, 51 Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom, 52 "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, 53 And drinking on top of it from scalding water 54 like a thirsty camel". 55 This shall be their hospitality on the Day of Doom. 56 It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? 57 Have you thought about what (sperm) you ejaculate? 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 We have decreed death to you all, and We are not unable, 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 [For,] were it Our will, We could indeed turn it into chaff, and you would be left to wonder [and to lament,] 65 “We have been penalised; 66 "Nay, but we are deprived!" 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Do you send it down from the clouds, or We send it down? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 Have you thought about the fire that you kindle. 71 Have you raised its tree, or We have raised it? 72 We have made it a reminder, and a blessing to the traveler. 73 Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. 74
