The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Rise up and warn! 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And your garments purify! 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and sons standing before him, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire. We have specified their number only as a trial for those who are bent on denying the truth, so that those who were given the Book might gain in certainty, and those who believe might increase in faith -- and so that neither those who have been given the Scripture nor the believers might have any doubts, and that those sick at heart and those who deny the truth might ask, "What does God mean by this parable?" In this way, God lets go astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. And none knows the forces of your Lord but He. This is but a Reminder for man. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
