He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 To him you attend; 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 These verses are a reminder 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
