۞ Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour. 23 and treat them with humility and tenderness and say, "Lord, be merciful to them both, as they raised me up when I was little." 24 Your Lord knows very well what is in your hearts. If you are good, He is forgiving to those who are penitent. 25 And give thou to the kinsman his due, and also unto the needy and the wayfarer; and squander not in squandering. 26 the squanderers are brothers of Satan, and Satan is unthankful to his Lord. 27 And even if thou hast to turn away from them in pursuit of the Mercy from thy Lord which thou dost expect, yet speak to them a word of easy kindness. 28 And do not make your hand [as] chained to your neck or extend it completely and [thereby] become blamed and insolvent. 29 Surely thy Lord outspreads and straitens His provision unto whom He will; surely He is aware of and sees His servants. 30
