The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
182 verses, revealed in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of those who establish proper ranks. 1 and the scarers scaring 2 Then those who recite, being mindful, 3 that your Lord is the only Lord. 4 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, and the Lord of the Easts. 5 We have adorned the lower heaven with the adornment of the stars 6 and guarded it against all rebellious devils: 7 so they cannot listen to the High Assembly, for they are pelted from every side. 8 Repulsed, for they are under a perpetual penalty, 9 Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness]. 10 So ask them for a pronouncement -- Are they stronger in constitution, or those We created? We created them of clinging clay. 11 Yet while you are filled with wonder, they just scoff; 12 And when they are reminded, they pay no attention. 13 When they see a sign, they laugh at it, 14 And they say, “This is nothing but clear magic.” 15 When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? 16 Or our fathers of yore? 17 Say, "Yes indeed, and you will be brought low." 18 So that is just a single jolt, thereupon they will begin staring. 19 And they will say: Ah! woe be unto us! this is the Day of Requital. 20 (It will be said): "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny." 21
