Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
